Giacinto

Aarduork 2025
Solo exhibition with Marta Magini

Giacinto is a philologist.
Giacinto is interested in epistolary studies.
Giacinto is an experimental music enthusiast.
Giacinto is interested in the unspoken forms of communication.
Giacinto is fascinated by norms and agreements in interpersonal relationships.
Giacinto is an invention, an expedient deployed by Nicola Di Croce and Marta Magini to reflect on the epistolary exchange they have been having since October 2023. Without displaying the texts, indeed concealing them behind the philologist's analysis, Di Croce and Magini make explicit the value of analysis (and self-analysis) as a fundamental tool for the development of a relationship between two people.

Giacinto’s analysis is then a pretext to reflect on the formats adopted in interpersonal relationships: those to which one implicitly adheres, which are taken for granted and become part of our habits, those that are redefined and renegotiated through dialogue, those that are instead silenced or forgotten, those that, in order to proceed, sometimes transcend words to follow other forms, such as music.

Giacinto is an exhibition by Nicola Di Croce and Marta Magini curated by Mario Ciaramitaro and Alberto Restucci for Aarduork indipendent art space in Venice. The multimedia installation consists of the video “Giacinto” (hd video, color, no sound, 35:33 min), a mixtape (vv.aa., 69:56 min) and a series of ink notes (thermal paper, 15 pieces, variable dimensions).
