Attuning to, resonating with (Aomori)

Aomori Contemporary Art Center, 2023
residency and installation

The installation explores the concepts of attunement and resonation through sound and listening by focusing on the production and management of energy within Aomori prefecture (Japan). It aims at creating a space where to reflect on the vitality or agency of non-human bodies and materialities experimenting ways to get closer and to grasp their own “voices” by attuning to and resonate with their specific sounds and vibrations.
Understanding listening practice as a crucial step toward such goal, the installation points at drafting a common ground to include non-human entities in decision making processes, thus negotiating with them future and much needed forms of cohabitation on the earth in face of the current political and ecological crisis.

The installation is part of the exhibition ‘Energies in the rural’, curated by Yukiko Shikata, Leandro Pisano and Aya Murakami. Aomori Contemporary Art Center July 8th to September 23rd 2023.
